Treatment by a professional medical herbalist

I am a professional medical herbalist.  I have completed a four year, full time, degree in Herbal Medicine.  The degree I studied is similar to orthodox doctors, I use the same diagnostic tests as conventional medical practitioners, as well as a range of functional medicine tests when needed. At your consultation I will take a very detailed medical and dietary history, so I have an in-depth picture of your past and present health, diet and lifestyle.

My approach is a functional medicine approach, i.e. to treat you as a whole person, and consider the health of all the systems of your body, and then work with you to address the underlying causes of ill health, as well as the symptoms. I will then use plant based herbal remedies which support the body’s own healing processes to help you back to good health.

When prescribed by a fully qualified Medical Herbalist, herbal medicines can be used safely alongside conventional drugs. I have detailed knowledge about the interactions between conventional drugs, herbs and supplements.

Herbal medicine may help a wide range of medical conditions, so if your condition is not listed below please contact me to find out more about how herbal medicine may help you.

I have over twenty five years experience in practice, and I specialise in treating:

  • Digestive and bowel disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, and candida
  • Stress related conditions including anxiety, low mood/depression, insomnia and headaches
  • Respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, recurrent chest infections, colds, tonsillitis, and poor immune function.
  • Post viral fatigue and ME
  • Arthritis, polymyalgia and fibromyalgia
  • Menstrual and gynaecological conditions – PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, unexplained infertility, peri-menopause, menopause and beyond
  • Cystitis and chronic urinary disorders

The herbal consultation

The first consultation is unhurried and an hour long. A thorough medical history is taken. I will ask detailed questions about your diet, and for some information about your lifestyle. Your blood pressure will be checked and, if necessary, an examination carried out.

I will give you detailed dietary, supplement and lifestyle advice.

At the end of the consultation, I will usually select between four and seven different herbal tinctures, and combine them in one bottle so you have a medicine individually created for your specific needs, the dosage is typically 7.5ml twice daily. I use organic tinctures wherever possible.

Subsequent visits allow us to review the progress of your treatment, monitor and support your dietary and lifestyle changes, and make appropriate adjustments to your herbal prescription. These appointments usually last twenty to thirty minutes.

Book your free ten minute ‘Discovery call’ with me now to talk about your health issues, or any of the services I offer.  Find out how herbal medicine may help you, what to expect from treatment, and whether you might benefit from testing or further investigation.
