An introduction to good nutrition

This course will give you a good understanding of the principles of nutrition.  By the end of the course you will know what foods make up a healthy diet, and what to avoid.

Topics covered include:

  • Healthy and unhealthy fats, including omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.
  • Are carbs really bad for you?  Which carbohydrates should you be eating?
  • Gluten and wheat – should they be avoided?
  • Understanding the rational behind the 5-a-day message
  • Vitamins and minerals for a strong immune system
  • Breaking down myths about protein and finding out the facts!

There will be time for discussion and to answer students individual questions about diet and nutrition.

This course is taught on-line over two consecutive Saturday mornings.

When: 10am to 1pm on Saturday 1st and 8th of February 2025
(this course is running again on Saturday 3rd and 10th of May 2025, and on Sunday 22nd June and 29th June)
